The books . Books have always fascinated us. Librería Clío was born in Madrid, in 1986 , driven by the passion of a bibliophile, our father, who continues to inspire and advise us.

We have passed from generation to the front of the ship, yes. Times have changed a lot since that time, including shipping times (it is difficult to fight against massive fish, but what a pleasure to see that immediacy has not caught on in everyone's mind!).

We continue swimming because we are convinced that books save us, minimally from stupidity, but also from boredom, from the herd, from the simple, the chewed up, from past mistakes... from life. If we add a little soul and circular economy to this, since everything we offer has passed through one or more hands, we cannot ask for more.

And we say "everything we offer" because Clío does not only live on books, you can also find newspapers, magazines, maps, prints...

Our muse

It could be in honor of the car model, but no, our name comes from one of the 9 muses of Greek mythology (Calliope, Eratus, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Thalia, Terpsichore and Urania were her sisters).

All of them had the gift of inspiring about different arts, and Clío did so with respect to History and heroic poetry.

According to legend, Homer invoked her at the beginning of his Iliad, asking that she grant him the gift of speech. to tell the story of the Trojan War.

It is usually represented as a girl crowned with laurels, with a trumpet in her right hand and a book of Thucydides in her left, although there are different versions.
